Thunderbird Tip: Change IMAP Folder Subscriptions - mastersthearkly

Recently I shared a couple Thunderbird tips: How to make email replies start at the top, and how to mark a message as read when you reply.

See, I'm still test-drive Thunderbird as a potential replacement for Mindset. It's getting the job done, but I occasionally find myself grumbling well-nig settings that should be slow to find–but aren't.

For lesson, I'm using Thunderbird as the get off client for a fistful of Gmail accounts, all of which are organized for IMAP. (If you're not familiar with that conception, read this: Use Gmail IMAP with Your Desktop E-Mail Node.)

Just one trouble: Nowhere in the account settings or options menus or anywhere other pot I find a way to choose which IMAP folders I want to take.

Sure, Thunderbird pulled all told the basic ones–Inbox, Drafts, Trash, etc.–when I jell in the lead the accounts, but there are other folders (i.e. labels, to use Gmail parlance) I want to approach.

Turns out the setting is almost hiding in plain sight:

Thunderbird IMAP subscribe

1. In the left pillar, find the invoice you lack to modify. (In my case, it would glucinium hasslefree@pcworld.com.)

2. Right-click that account statement (i.e. the e-mail address, though you can also right-get across the Inbox), then choose Sign away.

3. Presto! Your pure IMAP folder lean. Check the ones you desire to subscribe to, and uncheck the ones you don't want.

4. Click Okey and you're done.

I really shouldn't complain about Thunderbird's scattered settings, as Outlook is often much worsened. But I do find it irksome that such a basic option can't be ground alongside whol the former email account settings.

Agree? Disagree? You know what to do. (Oh, you don't? Parting a comment, that's what.)
